ORIGIN – She was born in Rome into a family that belongs to the history of the Italian Opera, counting on ancestors who were commended singers by Verdi and Puccini.
MUSICAL STUDIES AND DEBUT – Silvia Colombini graduated in violin and singing, she began studying violin as a child and then graduated. At 27, she discovered her natural soprano voice and, on the advice of opera star Edita Gruberova, embarked on a career as a soprano. Immediately winner of three international opera competitions, she made her debut in Vienna with one hundred performances of Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss.
OPERA EXPERIENCE – Initially she sang only operas, performing as soprano on prestigious international stages such as: Semperoper of Dresden, Salzburg Festival, Staatsoper of Berlin, Regio of Turin, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opera of Rome, Monnaie of Brussels, São Carlos of Lisbon, Opera Tel Aviv, Bunka Kaikan of Tokyo, Mozart Festival La Coruña and many others.
CONCERT EXPERIENCE – After a few years, she began also to perform in concerts, singing for important concert halls and festivals: Auditorium Verdi in Milan (where she recorded a CD of unpublished works by Nino Rota for DECCA records); I Pomeriggi Musicali Milan, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Sala Gasteig in Munich, numerous Chinese concert halls including the Shanghai Concert Hall. She performed for the Italian Presidents of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and for Pope Giovanni Paolo II and Pope Francesco (concert against slavery).
ORCHESTRA AND SCENE DIRECTORS – She worked with famous conductors and scene directors such as: Zubin Metha, Fabio Luisi, Milan Horvat, Zoltan Pesko, Luca Ronconi, Mario Martone, Davide Livermore…
RECORDINGS – She recorded with DECCA records, with the “Auditorium Verdi” in Milan and with “Parco della Musica Records” (Auditorium in Rome), together with the jazz pianist Danilo Rea.
A NEW HORIZON OF THE SOPRANO– Over the years, her horizons broadened and Colombini performed in the famous concert Memorial Pavarotti in Piazza Modena in 2016, which was also attended by famous singers such as Il Volo. The concert was in support of refugees in collaboration with UNHCR and Colombini had to perform the famous Gershwin’s song Summertime. Colombini not only sang the song but transformed it into a living installation….and with her son in her arms sings a poignant Summertime that evokes a mother refugee with a dead child in her arms, leaving the audience in Piazza Modena and the critics with bated breath. The performing arts soprano was officially born!
UNIQUE CONCET FORMATS – As a performing arts soprano, Colombini sings for every type of arts and she is hired for the inauguration of exhibitions, museums and cultural events. Her concert programs are unique: she is the only Italian singer who can sing in 13 languages: Italian, Spanish, German, French, English, Portuguese, Czech, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Aramaic, ancient Greek. In her performances apart of singing, acting, she sometimes plays the violin.
DIVULGATOR OF THE ITALIAN CULTURE – thanks to her wide range of languages, Colombini has long collaborated with international diplomacy. In many occasions, she was an “ambassadress” for Italian Opera Music abroad, bringing the Italian musical tradition in concerts in India, Africa, Vietnam, China and Japan.
TOURNÉE – She has performed on tours in the main theatres of Japan, such as the “Bunka Kaikan” of Tokyo, and she regularly goes on tour in China.
CHINA – In China, she has gained the epithet of “意大利歌剧女王” (The Queen of Italian Opera). She has performed on tour in many of the principal Chinese cities and theatres.
She will sing in a new Chinese tour in June 2023
SINGING TEACHER– She is the creator of the innovative Singing method ARS (“Art of Overcoming Resistance”), taught internationally since 2000 and presented in China in 2011 at the “Tongji University of Shanghai”. Colombini is also the artistic director of the ALLORO project, an Italy-China cultural exchange program for musical educational.
PRESTIGIOUS CORPORATE EVENTS – Even some prestigious companies have hired Colombini to create original evenings that stand out from the usual corporate events. Thus she performed for the world leaders of Samsung, L’Oréal, Saint Gobain, the Zepter International Foundation and several international fly and financial companies. She was also the protagonist of one of the most important events related to cosmetics: the world cosmetics conference with two twin concerts held at the Science and Technology Park in Hong Kong and at the MiCo Convention Center in Milan
